A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and expressing condolences upon the passing of
Samir (Sam) P. Ashmar, a volunteer firefighter who was killed
in the line of duty on November 20, 2014.
WHEREAS, Samir (Sam) P. Ashmar, of Breinigsville passed away
November 20, 2014, at Lehigh Valley Hospital; and
WHEREAS, Sam was dedicated to public service, having served
Upper Macungie Township as Vice Chairman of the Board of
Supervisors, The Planning Commission and Authority since 2006;
and
WHEREAS, He was also a volunteer firefighter since 1982,
serving as Fire Marshal and EMT for Upper Macungie Township
Station 56, and had previously served the Good Will Fire
Company, No. 1, Trexlertown, and Lower Macungie Township Station

WHEREAS, Sam was an assistant to the Pennsylvania State
Police Fire Marshal and held memberships in the International,
National and Pennsylvania Association of Arson Investigators. He
also served on the Board of Directors for the Burn Prevention
Foundation, Allentown, from 2000 to 2009; and
WHEREAS, Sam was a hardworking, selfless and supportive role
model to his family and friends; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, Sharon, and mother Rommy,
Sam is survived by a son, Joshua; a daughter, Makala; a brother
Andrew; and sisters Haya, Marina, Nawel and Sabina; therefore be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the life
and express condolences upon the passing of Samir (Sam) P.
Ashmar, a volunteer firefighter who was killed in the line of
duty on November 20, 2014.
