JANUARY 21, 2015
A RESOLUTION
Designating January 9, 2015, as "Law Enforcement Appreciation
Day" in Pennsylvania and recognizing law enforcement officers
who serve and protect this Commonwealth.
WHEREAS, Our many proud law enforcement officers, whose
service and sacrifice protect our communities and safeguard our
democracy, provide a vital public service to this Commonwealth
through the fulfillment of their mission to serve and to
protect; and
WHEREAS, Law enforcement officers play such an integral role
in our society, protecting the public at all times; and
WHEREAS, Each day, 780,000 law enforcement officers across
our country put a badge on knowing they may face extremely
dangerous situations; and
WHEREAS, Sadly, each year, between 105 and 203 officers die

in the line of duty, 50,000 officers are assaulted and 14,000
officers are injured; and
WHEREAS, The House of Representatives recognizes and commits
to honor those who continue to make the ultimate sacrifice to
keep our communities safe and play such an integral role in our
society; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate January
9, 2015, as "Law Enforcement Appreciation Day" in Pennsylvania.
