AN ACT
Amending the act of July 20, 1974 (P.L.537, No.184), entitled
"An act defining honey and regulating its sale and the
labeling and sale of imitations of honey; and providing
penalties for violation," further providing for a standard of
identity for manufactured honey.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. The act of July 20, 1974 (P.L.537, No.184),
referred to as the Honey Sale and Labeling Act, is amended by
adding a section to read:
Section 2.1. The Secretary of Agriculture shall, within one
year of the effective date of this section, promulgate
regulations to establish a standard of identity for honey which
standard shall apply to the honey manufactured, sold, kept for
sale or exposed or offered for sale in this Commonwealth. In
establishing the standard, the secretary shall commence with the
Codex Standard for Honey approved and adopted by the Codex
Alimentarius Commission and shall explain the reason for any

modification of the Codex Standard for Honey prior to finalizing
the regulations.
Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
