AN ACT
Amending the act of July 28, 1953 (P.L.723, No.230), entitled,
as amended, "An act relating to counties of the second class
and second class A; amending, revising, consolidating and
changing the laws relating thereto," in special powers and
duties of the county, further providing for markers on
graves, memorial certificates and headstones.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 2113(h) of the act of July 28, 1953
(P.L.723, No.230), known as the Second Class County Code, is
amended to read:
Section 2113. Markers on Graves; Memorial Certificates;
Headstones.--* * *
(h) Each headstone shall contain his or her name and the
rank and organization to which he or she belonged or in which he
or she served, in letters raised or cut in at least three-
sixteenths of an inch deep. The headstone shall be of either
marble or granite and shall be placed or set in a concrete base
at least three feet deep, or if a headstone has been provided

for such grave by the United States Government, the county
commissioners shall provide the concrete base therefor, or if
lettering only on an existing memorial is desired by the family,
the county commissioners shall provide such lettering. An amount
charged for the concrete base may not exceed the sum of two
hundred fifty dollars ($250).

Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
