A RESOLUTION

 

1Designating the month of October 2014 as "Parent Involvement
2Recognition Month" in Pennsylvania.

3WHEREAS, Children are one of Pennsylvania's most vital and
4valuable resources; and

5WHEREAS, Education is one of the foundations of our society
6and it provides the opportunity for children to reach the
7highest levels of achievement and to live productive lives; and

8WHEREAS, Parents are their children's first and most
9influential teachers, and all parents and families have hopes
10and goals for their children; and

11WHEREAS, Parental involvement in their children's learning
12prior to school entrance is essential for school readiness; and

13WHEREAS, Parental involvement in children's education is a
14determining factor in children's academic success; and

15WHEREAS, When parents work with schools supported by
16communities in shared partnerships, children become lifelong
17learners and community contributors; and

1WHEREAS, The Commonwealth recognizes the important role that
2parents, guardians, grandparents and other family members play
3in children's learning and education; and

4WHEREAS, The Commonwealth recognizes the importance of high-
5quality early childhood parenting programs and efforts that
6engage parents in their children's early learning; and

7WHEREAS, The Commonwealth is dedicated to providing the high-
8quality education that all children deserve in accessible,
9welcoming environments; therefore be it

10RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the month of October 2014
11as "Parent Involvement Recognition Month" in Pennsylvania, and
12urge all citizens to recognize and celebrate the importance of
13parents and families in their children's lives and the vital
14role they have in their children's learning and education.
