A RESOLUTION
1Recognizing the month of March 2014 as "Professional Social Work
2Month" in Pennsylvania and calling upon the citizens of this
3Commonwealth to join with the Pennsylvania chapter of the
4National Association of Social Workers in celebration and
5support of social workers and the social work profession.
6WHEREAS, Highly trained social workers serve as guides and
7lifelines to millions of people and families of all backgrounds
8and circumstances; and
9WHEREAS, The primary mission of the social work profession is
10to enhance human well-being and to help meet the basic needs of
11all people, especially the most vulnerable; and
12WHEREAS, Social workers help people in every stage of life to
13function better in their environments, to improve their
14relationships with others and to solve personal and family
15problems; and
16WHEREAS, Social workers give veterans and their families the
17support they deserve to successfully transition to civilian
18routines when their service is done; and
1WHEREAS, Social workers offer the access to mental health
2treatment and health care services that comfort and strengthen
3the ill and their families; and
4WHEREAS, Social workers meet the challenge every day of
5creating safe and healthy environments so that children have the
6opportunity to grow into caring and responsible adults; and
7WHEREAS, Social workers define their character by showing
8dignity and concern to older adults; and
9WHEREAS, Social workers are change agents who turn research
10and community need into national priorities; and
11WHEREAS, Social workers celebrate the courage, hope and
12strength of the human spirit throughout their careers; therefore
13be it
14RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the month of March 2014
15as "Professional Social Work Month" in Pennsylvania in
16recognition of social workers and their commitment to
17individuals, families and communities, and call upon the
18citizens of this Commonwealth to join with the Pennsylvania
19chapter of the National Association of Social Workers in
20celebration and support of social workers and the social work
21profession.
