A RESOLUTION

 

1Recognizing the 75th anniversary of Junior Achievement.

2WHEREAS, Junior Achievement is the world's largest
3organization dedicated to educating students about work force
4readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through
5experiential, hands-on programs; and

6WHEREAS, More than 6,000 business, community and parent
7volunteers touch the lives of more than 250,000 students each
8year in kindergarten through grade 12 in public and private
9school systems in this Commonwealth; and

10WHEREAS, Junior Achievement's message of hope and prosperity
11for the future helps prepare students to be the workers, leaders
12and educated consumers of tomorrow; and

13WHEREAS, Junior Achievement volunteers have contributed more
14than 5,900,000 hours of their time to impact more than 4,424,500
15students in nearly 187,300 classrooms in Pennsylvania during the
16last 60 years; and

1WHEREAS, In Junior Achievement, programs help prepare young
2people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth
3and effectively manage it, how to create jobs that make their
4communities more robust and how to apply entrepreneurial
5thinking to the workplace; and

6WHEREAS, Junior Achievement empowers young people to own
7their economic success; and

8WHEREAS, Junior Achievement believes in the boundless
9potential of young people; is committed to the principles of
10market-based economics and entrepreneurship; is passionate about
11what its volunteers do, while practicing honesty, integrity and
12excellence; respects the talents, creativity, perspectives and
13backgrounds of all individuals; believes in the power of
14partnership and collaboration and has conviction in the
15educational and motivational impact of relevant, hands-on
16learning; and

17WHEREAS, Junior Achievement sustains our democracy by
18strengthening communities with proven programs that focus on
19work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy; and

20WHEREAS, In 2014 Junior Achievement commemorates the 75th
21anniversary of its founding in this Commonwealth; therefore be
22it

23RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the 75th anniversary of
24Junior Achievement and commend Junior Achievement for its many
25contributions to the economic vitality of this Commonwealth.
