A RESOLUTION
1Designating the month of October 2013 as "Pharmacist Month" in
2Pennsylvania.
3WHEREAS, Pharmacy is one of the oldest of the health
4professions concerned with the health and well-being of all
5people; and
6WHEREAS, Pharmacists play a key role in reducing overall
7health care costs by providing medication and information on
8correct medication use; and
9WHEREAS, As medication experts, pharmacists make vital
10contributions to health care in the United States; and
11WHEREAS, Today's powerful and complex medications require
12greater attention to the manner in which they are used by
13different patient population groups, both clinically and
14demographically; and
15WHEREAS, Pharmacists have extensive education and expertise
16on drugs and medication therapy, which makes them ideally suited
17to work collaboratively with patients and their health care team
1members to improve medication use and outcomes; and
2WHEREAS, The American Pharmacists Association celebrates the
3advances made by pharmacist professionals in October 2013 with
4"American Pharmacist Month"; and
5WHEREAS, The theme of this year's observance is "Know Your
6Pharmacist, Know Your Medicine"; therefore be it
7RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the month of October 2013
8as "Pharmacist Month" in Pennsylvania and urge all citizens to
9acknowledge the valuable services of pharmacists to provide
10safe, affordable and beneficial pharmaceutical care services and
11products to the citizens of this Commonwealth.
