A RESOLUTION
1Designating the month of September 2013 as "National Spinal Cord
2Injury Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania.
3WHEREAS, Every 48 minutes, someone in the United States
4becomes paralyzed because of a spinal cord injury; and
5WHEREAS, More than 270,000 Americans, including 44,000
6veterans of the United States Armed Forces, are paralyzed; and
7WHEREAS, Americans living with spinal cord injuries face many
8challenges and accomplish many achievements every day; and
9WHEREAS, The National Spinal Cord Injury Association and the
10Buoniconti Fund hope to increase awareness about the need for
11improved treatments and preventive measures for spinal cord
12injuries; and
13WHEREAS, The goal of National Spinal Cord Injury Awareness
14Month is to ask "Will you stand up for those who can't?" to
15create a national conversation about paralysis; therefore be it
16RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the month of September
12013 as "National Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month" in
2Pennsylvania.
