A RESOLUTION
1Congratulating The Hooters on 30 years of success and
2appreciating its contributions to the art and culture of this
3Commonwealth and the world.
4WHEREAS, In 1983, The Hooters, an internationally famous rock
5band from Philadelphia, released its first album, Amore, which
6sold more than 100,000 copies; and
7WHEREAS, The band's first major label release, Nervous Night,
8sold more than 2.5 million copies; and
9WHEREAS, The band, known for its live performances, was the
10opening act of Live Aid, joined Pink Floyd's Roger Waters for
11his performances of "The Wall" and played the famed Amnesty
12International Concerts; and
13WHEREAS, The band has collaborated with artists such as Taj
14Mahal, Mick Jagger, Willie Nelson and Jon Bon Jovi; and
15WHEREAS, The Hooters hit songs include "And We Danced," "Day
16by Day," "Where Do the Children Go," "All You Zombies,"
17"Fightin' on the Same Side," "Satellite" and "500 Miles"; and
18WHEREAS, The band has also written for and performed with
1artists such as Cyndi Lauper, Joan Osborne and Ricky Martin,
2including international hits "Time After Time" and "What if God
3Was One of Us"; and
4WHEREAS, The Hooters consists of Eric Bazilian, Rob Hyman,
5David Uosikkinen, John Lilley and Fran Smith Jr; and
6WHEREAS, Even after 30 years, the band is still recording
7music and members of the band still live in and around
8Philadelphia; therefore be it
9RESOLVED, That the Senate congratulate The Hooters on 30
10years of success and appreciate its contributions to the art and
11culture of this Commonwealth and the world.
