1Recognizing Tuesday, April 9, 2013, as "Architects Day" in
2Pennsylvania.

3WHEREAS, It is important to recognize "Architects Day" to
4remind the citizens of this Commonwealth of the unique
5contributions architects have made to the history, texture and
6quality of life in Pennsylvania; and

7WHEREAS, AIA Pennsylvania, founded in 1909, is the Statewide
8component of the American Institute of Architects; and

9WHEREAS, AIA Pennsylvania has a Statewide membership of more
10than 2,700; and

11WHEREAS, The beginning of an organized architectural
12profession in this nation was signified by the founding of the
13American Institute of Architects 150 years ago; and

14WHEREAS, Architects express the richness of our heritage and
15the vitality of its spirit through the vigilant stewardship of
16great architectural and historic treasures; and

17WHEREAS, Architects improve the quality of life for all

1individuals in this Commonwealth by combining advances in
2building technology with design innovation to build healthy,
3safe, livable and sustainable buildings and communities;
4therefore be it

5RESOLVED, That the Senate designate Tuesday, April 9, 2013,
6as "Architects Day" in Pennsylvania.
