A RESOLUTION

 

1Designating March 19, 2013, as "Pennsylvania Farm Bureau Day"
2and congratulating Pennsylvania Farm Bureau members for their
3contribution to this Commonwealth and to this Commonwealth's
4agricultural industry.

5WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, formerly the
6Pennsylvania Farmers' Association, was created November 24,
71950, to provide Pennsylvania farmers and rural citizens with a
8strong voice in government; and

9WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau represents 55,398 farm
10and rural families and has 54 county farm bureau organizations
11that are active in 65 counties in this Commonwealth; and

12WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau has played an integral
13role in development and implementation of legislation and
14governmental programs that have had lasting and positive effects
15upon the economic welfare of agriculture and agribusiness in
16this Commonwealth; and

17WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau has been and continues

1to be a strong voice for agriculture at the national, State and
2local levels; and

3WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and its affiliated
4charitable organization, the Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture
5Foundation, have been and continue to be effective at educating
6the Commonwealth's citizens about modern food and farming
7practices; therefore be it

8RESOLVED, That the Senate designate March 19, 2013, as
9"Pennsylvania Farm Bureau Day"; and be it further

10RESOLVED, That the Senate extend congratulations and
11appreciation to Pennsylvania Farm Bureau members for the
12contribution that they have provided to this Commonwealth and to
13the economic welfare of this Commonwealth's agricultural
14industry.
