A RESOLUTION
1Directing the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee to
2conduct a study on the implementation of early voting and on
3same-day registration in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
4WHEREAS, Various states throughout our nation have voting
5systems that allow voters to go to certain polling places to
6vote prior to election day, commonly known as "early voting";
7and
8WHEREAS, Various states permit eligible citizens to register
9to vote on election days, commonly known as "Election Day Voter
10Registration" (EDR) or "Same-Day Registration"; therefore be it
11RESOLVED, That the Senate direct the Legislative Budget and
12Finance Committee to conduct a study on the feasibility of
13adopting one or both of the aforesaid voting practices in this
14Commonwealth for future elections; and be it further
15RESOLVED, That the committee report its findings, conclusions
16and recommendations to the Senate no later than November 30,
172013.
