1Designating the week of February 10 through 16, 2013, as
2"Cardiac Rehabilitation Week" in Pennsylvania.

3WHEREAS, The American Association of Cardiovascular and
4Pulmonary Rehabilitation is observing "National Cardiac
5Rehabilitation Week," February 10 through 16, 2013, with the
6theme "Cardiac Rehabilitation: Healing Hearts and Touching
7Lives"; and

8WHEREAS, Coronary heart disease is the leading cause of death
9in our nation and in this Commonwealth; and

10WHEREAS, The goal of cardiac rehabilitation is to help heart
11disease patients learn to reduce the risk factors, such as
12smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, physical
13inactivity, diabetes and obesity, which increase the chance of
14future health problems; and

15WHEREAS, Observation of "Cardiac Rehabilitation Week" calls
16special attention to the dedicated professionals who promote the

1dissemination of information about coronary heart disease, its
2prevention and rehabilitation; and

3WHEREAS, The dedicated cardiovascular specialists of this
4Commonwealth and the strides made to conquer coronary heart
5disease are deserving of great recognition; therefore be it

6RESOLVED, That the Senate commend the American Association of
7Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation and designate the
8week of February 10 through 16, 2013, as "Cardiac Rehabilitation
9Week" in Pennsylvania.
