AN ACT
1Amending the act of December 10, 1974 (P.L.852, No.287),
2entitled, as amended, "An act to protect the public health
3and safety by preventing excavation or demolition work from
4damaging underground lines used in providing electricity,
5communication, gas, propane, oil delivery, oil product
6delivery, sewage, water or other service; imposing duties
7upon the providers of such service, recorders of deeds, and
8persons and other entities preparing drawings or performing
9excavation or demolition work; and prescribing penalties,"
10requiring the use of steel products made in the United
11States.
12The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
13hereby enacts as follows:
14Section 1. The act of December 10, 1974 (P.L.852, No.287),
15referred to as the Underground Utility Line Protection Law, is
16amended by adding a section to read:
17Section 6.2. (a) Any construction, reconstruction,
18alteration, repair, improvement or maintenance of gathering
19lines that requires use of steel products shall only use steel
20products produced in the United States.
21(b) This section shall apply to construction of gathering
1lines performed on or after the effective date of this section.
2(c) As used in this section, the following words and phrases
3shall have the meanings given to them in this subsection unless
4the context clearly indicates otherwise:
5"Gathering line" means a pipeline used to transport natural
6gas from a production facility to a transmission line.
7"Steel products" shall have the same meaning as defined in
8section 6 of the act of March 3, 1978 (P.L.6, No.3), known as
9the "Steel Products Procurement Act."
10Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
