1Amending Title 35 (Health and Safety) of the Pennsylvania
2Consolidated Statutes, further providing for award of grants.

3The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4hereby enacts as follows:

5Section 1. Section 7813(b) of Title 35 of the Pennsylvania
6Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:

7§ 7813. Award of grants.

9(b) Limits.--

10(1) Except as provided in paragraph (3), grants shall be
11not less than $2,500 and not more than $15,000 per fire
12company.

13(2) Grants may be awarded on a pro rata basis if the
14total dollar amount of the approved application exceeds the
15amount of funds appropriated by the General Assembly for this
16purpose.

17(3) In a municipality where there are two or more

1volunteer fire companies and if two or more volunteer fire
2companies consolidated their use of equipment, firefighters
3and services [within five years preceding the date of the
4current year application submission deadline], the <-following 
5apply:

6(i) The consolidated entity shall be deemed eligible
7to receive a grant not to exceed the amount of the
8combined total for which the individual companies would
9have been eligible had they not consolidated.

<-10(ii) The individual companies that consolidated
11shall each be eligible to receive an individual grant not
12to exceed the amount which the individual companies would
13have been eligible had they not consolidated.

15Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
