AN ACT

 

1Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2Statutes, further providing for acknowledgment of littering
3provisions.

4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:

6Section 1. Section 1317 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
7Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:

8§ 1317. Acknowledgment of [littering provisions] motor vehicle 
9law or safe driving practice.

10[On every vehicle registration card, the following statement
11shall be printed immediately above or below the signature of the
12applicant:

13I hereby acknowledge this day that I have received notice
14of the provisions of section 3709 of the Vehicle Code.

15Also printed on the registration card shall be the following:

16Section 3709 provides for a fine of up to $300 for
17dropping, throwing or depositing, upon any highway, or
18upon any other public or private property without the
19consent of the owner thereof or into or on the waters of

1this Commonwealth from a vehicle, any waste paper,
2sweepings, ashes, household waste, glass, metal, refuse
3or rubbish or any dangerous or detrimental substance, or
4permitting any of the preceding without immediately
5removing such items or causing their removal.

6For any violation of section 3709, I may be subject to a
7fine of up to $300 upon conviction, including any
8violation resulting from the conduct of any other persons
9operating, in possession of or present within this
10vehicle with my permission, if I do not with reasonable
11certainty identify the driver of the vehicle at the time
12the violation occurred.]

13On every vehicle registration card, the department shall
14print immediately above or below the signature of the applicant
15a reminder of a Pennsylvania motor vehicle law or safe driving
16practice as determined by the department, which must be
17acknowledged by the registrant. The department shall change the
18subject of the acknowledgment every two years.

19Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
