1Amending Title 24 (Education) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2Statutes, further providing for definitions.

3The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4hereby enacts as follows:

5Section 1. The definition of "governmental entity" in
6section 8102 of Title 24 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
7Statutes, amended July 1, 2013 (P.L.174, No.32), is amended to
8read:

9§ 8102. Definitions.

10The following words and phrases when used in this part shall
11have, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise, the
12meanings given to them in this section:

14"Governmental entity." Board of school directors, board of 
15public education, intermediate unit board of directors, area 
16vocational-technical board, any governing board of any agency or 
17authority created by them, and the Commonwealth. This term does 
18not include an association authorized to receive membership dues
 

1from a public school entity under section 516 of the act of 
2March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code 
3of 1949.

5Section 2. The amendment of "governmental entity" in 24
6Pa.C.S. § 8102 shall apply to members hired on or after the
7effective date of this act.

8Section 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
