1Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2Statutes, in registration of vehicles, further providing for
3person with disability plate and placard.

4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:

6Section 1. Section 1338 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
7Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a subsection to read:

8§ 1338. Person with disability plate and placard.

10(a.1) Disability plate for wheelchair racks.--

11(1) A person with a disability who has been approved by
12the department for a special registration plate under
13subsection (a) and who intends to place such plate on a
14passenger car or truck with a registered gross weight of not
15more than 10,000 pounds that has affixed thereto a rack
16designed to carry a wheelchair may request a second special
17registration plate for display on the wheelchair rack.

18(2) Upon the payment of a fee equal to the amount of the

1fee for the first special registration plate, the department
2shall issue a second special registration plate for display
3exclusively on the wheelchair rack of the vehicle identified
4in the application.

5(3) Once issued, the second special registration plate
6shall be attached to the wheelchair rack so long as the
7wheelchair rack is affixed to the vehicle. If the wheelchair
8rack is permanently removed from the vehicle, the second
9special registration plate shall be returned to the
10department in accordance with the provisions of section
111334(b) and (c) (relating to return of registration plate).

13Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
