AN ACT

 

1Amending the act of June 22, 2000 (P.L.318, No.32), entitled "An
2act encouraging State agencies to locate facilities in a
3downtown area; and providing for report to General Assembly,"
4further providing for powers and duties of the Department of
5General Services.

6The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
7hereby enacts as follows:

8Section 1. Section 4 of the act of June 22, 2000 (P.L.318,
9No.32), known as the Downtown Location Law, is amended by adding
10subsections to read:

13(a.1) Denial of requests.--The department shall deny a
14request by a State agency to locate outside a downtown area
15unless a majority of the factors specified in subsection (a) are
16found to be unsatisfactory to the agencies' needs or facility
17requirements cannot be met by locating in a downtown area.

18(a.2) Coordination.--The department shall also coordinate
19projects with existing public and private sector organizations

1committed to community, downtown revitalization and historic
2preservation. The coordination shall include seeking a
3recommendation from the identified downtown revitalization or
4historic preservation organization as to whether, in its
5opinion, the needs of the agency could be met based on the
6factors specified in subsection (a).

8Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
