1Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the Commonwealth
2of Pennsylvania, further providing for compensation.

3The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4hereby resolves as follows:

5Section 1. The following amendment to the Constitution of
6Pennsylvania is proposed in accordance with Article XI:

7That section 8 of Article II be amended to read:

8§ 8. Compensation.

9The members of the General Assembly shall receive such salary
10and mileage for regular and special sessions as shall be fixed
11by law, and no other compensation whatever, whether for service
12upon committee or otherwise. No member of either House shall
13during the term for which he may have been elected, receive any
14increase of salary, [or mileage, under any law] mileage or cost 
15of living passed during such term.

16Section 2. (a) Upon the first passage by the General
17Assembly of this proposed constitutional amendment, the

1Secretary of the Commonwealth shall proceed immediately to
2comply with the advertising requirements of section 1 of Article
3XI of the Constitution of Pennsylvania and shall transmit the
4required advertisements to two newspapers in every county in
5which such newspapers are published in sufficient time after
6passage of this proposed constitutional amendment.

7(b) Upon the second passage by the General Assembly of this
8proposed constitutional amendment, the Secretary of the
9Commonwealth shall proceed immediately to comply with the
10advertising requirements of section 1 of Article XI of the
11Constitution of Pennsylvania and shall transmit the required
12advertisements to two newspapers in every county in which such
13newspapers are published in sufficient time after passage of
14this proposed constitutional amendment. The Secretary of the
15Commonwealth shall submit this proposed constitutional amendment
16to the qualified electors of this Commonwealth at the first
17primary, general or municipal election which meets the
18requirements of and is in conformance with section 1 of Article
19XI of the Constitution of Pennsylvania and which occurs at least
20three months after the proposed constitutional amendment is
21passed by the General Assembly.
