AN ACT

 

1Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
2act relating to the public school system, including certain
3provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
4schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
5laws relating thereto," in reimbursements by Commonwealth and
6between school districts, providing for growth supplement for
72014-2015 school year; and making an appropriation.

8The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
9hereby enacts as follows:

10Section 1. The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known
11as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended by adding a
12section to read:

13Section 2502.52. Growth Supplement for 2014-2015 School
14Year.--(a) For the 2014-2015 school year, a growth supplement
15shall be paid to qualifying school districts as follows:

16(1) To qualify for the growth supplement, a school
17district's 2009-2010 average daily membership must be greater
18than its 2001-2002 average daily membership by three hundred
19fifty (350) average daily members.

20(2) The growth supplement shall be calculated for qualifying

1school districts as follows:

2(i) Subtract the school district's 2000-2001 average daily
3membership from its 2008-2009 average daily membership.

4(ii) Multiply the difference from clause (i) by twenty
5million dollars ($20,000,000).

6(iii) Divide the product from clause (ii) by the sum of the
7differences from clause (i) for all qualifying school districts.

8(b) Payments to qualifying school districts shall be made no
9later than September 15, 2014.

10Section 2. The sum of $20,000,000 is hereby appropriated to
11the Department of Education for the purpose of the growth
12supplement for the 2014-2015 school year provided by section
132502.52 of the act.

14Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2014, or
15immediately, whichever is later.
