AN ACT

 

1Amending Title 71 (State Government) of the Pennsylvania
2Consolidated Statutes, further providing for definitions.

3The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4hereby enacts as follows:

5Section 1. The definition of "superannuation age" in section
65102 of Title 71 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes is
7amended and the section is amended by adding a definition to
8read:

9§ 5102. Definitions.

10The following words and phrases as used in this part, unless
11a different meaning is plainly required by the context, shall
12have the following meanings:

14"Commonwealth firefighter or firefighter instructor." An 
15employee of the Commonwealth engaged in any of the following:

16(1) Specialized structural and aircraft firefighting.

17(2) Fire prevention or fire inspection of buildings or
18aircraft owned or maintained by the Commonwealth.

1(3) Specialized training of emergency service and allied
2professionals at the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy.

4"Superannuation age." For classes of service other than 
5Class A-3 and Class A-4, any age upon accrual of 35 eligibility 
6points or age 60, except for a member of the General Assembly, 
7an enforcement officer, a correction officer, a psychiatric 
8security aide, a Delaware River Port Authority policeman, a 
9Commonwealth firefighter or firefighter instructor or an officer 
10of the Pennsylvania State Police, age 50, and, except for a 
11member with Class G, Class H, Class I, Class J, Class K, Class 
12L, Class M or Class N service, age 55 upon accrual of 20 
13eligibility points. For Class A-3 and Class A-4 service, any age 
14upon attainment of a superannuation score of 92, provided the 
15member has accrued 35 eligibility points, or age 65, or for park 
16rangers or capitol police officers, age 55 with 20 years of 
17service as a park ranger or capitol police officer, except for a 
18member of the General Assembly, an enforcement officer, a 
19correction officer, a psychiatric security aide, a Delaware 
20River Port Authority policeman or an officer of the Pennsylvania 
21State Police, age 55. A vestee with Class A-3 or Class A-4 
22service credit attains superannuation age on the birthday the 
23vestee attains the age resulting in a superannuation score of 
2492, provided that the vestee has at least 35 eligibility points, 
25or attains another applicable superannuation age, whichever 
26occurs first.

28Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
