A RESOLUTION

 

1Designating the month of November 2014 as "Pulmonary
2Hypertension Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania and commending
3the work of the Pulmonary Hypertension Association.

4WHEREAS, The health of our community's people is the
5foundation for a caring and productive society, and our future
6rests with our ability to find cures for, and adequately treat
7individuals who are afflicted with, a variety of illnesses,
8including pulmonary hypertension; and

9WHEREAS, Pulmonary hypertension is a rare disorder causing
10intolerable blood pressure levels in the arteries between the
11lungs and heart, and it has been chronic and incurable with a
12poor survival rate; and

13WHEREAS, Symptoms of pulmonary hypertension may include chest
14pain, dizziness, fainting, fatigue, swollen legs and ankles and

1irregular heartbeat; and

2WHEREAS, Early diagnosis can lead to early treatment and the
3possibility of an improved quality of life; and

4WHEREAS, Education can help with early diagnosis, and funding
5for research can help find a cure; and

6WHEREAS, The Pulmonary Hypertension Association is a
7nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of
8life for those with pulmonary hypertension through education,
9awareness, research, member services and patient and family
10support; therefore be it

11RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the 
12month of November 2014 as "Pulmonary Hypertension Awareness 
13Month" in Pennsylvania and commend the work of the Pulmonary 
14Hypertension Association.
