A RESOLUTION
1Urging the United States Congress and the President of the
2United States to continue funding the Northeast Counterdrug
3Training Center.
4WHEREAS, The Northeast Counterdrug Training Center (NCTC) at
5Fort Indiantown Gap was established in October 1998; and
6WHEREAS, The NCTC charter is meant to provide no-cost
7counter-drug training and education to law enforcement and drug
8demand reduction specialists across the 18 northeastern United
9States from Maine to Virginia and west to Wisconsin in order to
10better protect our country and our children from the scourge of
11drugs in America; and
12WHEREAS, The NCTC is staffed by National Guard Specialists
13and state employees, who provide infrastructure management; and
14WHEREAS, The NCTC has successfully brought together civilian
15and military experts to accomplish its charter goals; and
16WHEREAS, The NCTC provides all necessary facilities,
17instruction and support to enhance the capabilities to reduce
1and remove illegal drugs from our streets and educate our
2communities in the most up-to-date prevention techniques; and
3WHEREAS, Fort Indiantown Gap was chosen as the site for the
4NCTC in part due to the wide variety of state-of-the-art
5facilities available; and
6WHEREAS, Fort Indiantown Gap provides a modern and
7professional environment for training, conferences and planning
8sessions, which are central to counter-drug efforts; and
9WHEREAS, The NCTC is congressionally funded through the
10Department of Defense and is managed by the Pennsylvania
11National Guard Counterdrug Program; therefore be it
12RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge the United
13States Congress and the President of the United States to
14continue funding the Northeast Counterdrug Training Center.
