A RESOLUTION
1Designating May 13, 2014, as "World Falun Dafa Day" in
2Pennsylvania.
3WHEREAS, Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, is an advanced
4self-improvement practice embedded in ancient Chinese culture
5that seeks to improve the mind, body and spirit; and
6WHEREAS, Falun Dafa consists of five exercises and meditation
7based on the universal principles of truthfulness, compassion
8and forbearance; and
9WHEREAS, The practice of Falun Dafa has a significant
10positive effect of stress relief and overall mental and physical
11health and allows individuals to let go of destructive
12tendencies; and
13WHEREAS, Through consistent practice, Falun Dafa can enable
14individuals to reach a state of altruism, health and inner
15balance; and
16WHEREAS, The practice of Falun Dafa was first taught in the
17city of Changchun, China, in 1992 by Mr. Li Hongzhi; and
1WHEREAS, Falun Dafa was publicly introduced to Philadelphia
2in 1998; and
3WHEREAS, There have been dozens of free introductory
4workshops offered in libraries and bookstores across this
5Commonwealth, with more scheduled in the future; and
6WHEREAS, All Falun Dafa books, workshops, exercise sessions
7and related events are offered free of charge; and
8WHEREAS, Falun Dafa has helped over 100 million people in
9over 120 countries improve their health and moral standards
10while deepening their understanding of life, humanity and the
11universe; and
12WHEREAS, Despite its origins, Falun Dafa is currently banned
13in China over beliefs that it does not align with the ideals of
14the Chinese government; and
15WHEREAS, Falun Dafa is still pursued by many in China as a
16source of strength and spiritual peace in spite of oppression;
17and
18WHEREAS, May 13, 2014, marks the 22nd anniversary of the
19public introduction of the ancient practice of Falun Dafa; and
20WHEREAS, Falun Dafa continues to transcend cultural and
21national boundaries to bring improved mental and physical health
22and inner peace to millions around the world; therefore be it
23RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate May 13,
242014, as "World Falun Dafa Day" in Pennsylvania.
