INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, MAY 5, 2014
A RESOLUTION
1Designating the week of May 18 through 24, 2014, as "Emergency
2Medical Services Week" in Pennsylvania.
3WHEREAS, Emergency medical services are a vital public
4service; and
5WHEREAS, The members of emergency medical services teams are
6ready to provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a
7day, seven days a week; and
8WHEREAS, Access to quality emergency care dramatically
9improves the survival and recovery rate of those who experience
10sudden illness or injury; and
11WHEREAS, The emergency medical services system consists of
1emergency physicians, emergency nurses, rescue personnel,
2emergency medical technicians, paramedics, prehospital nurses,
3air medical personnel, emergency medical responders, emergency
4vehicle operators, firefighters, police officers, educators,
5dispatchers, administrators and others; and
6WHEREAS, The members of emergency medical services teams,
7whether career or volunteer, engage in thousands of hours of
8specialized training and continuing education to enhance their
9lifesaving skills; and
10WHEREAS, It is appropriate to recognize the value and the
11accomplishments of emergency medical services providers by
12designating Emergency Medical Services Week; therefore be it
13RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
14week of May 18 through 24, 2014, as "Emergency Medical Services
15Week" in Pennsylvania, with the theme, "EMS: Dedicated. For
16Life," and encourage the community to observe this week with
17appropriate programs, ceremonies and activities.
