A RESOLUTION

 

1Designating May 21, 2014, as "Emergency Medical Services for
2Children (EMSC) Day" in Pennsylvania.

3WHEREAS, Emergency Medical Services for Children supports
4emergency medical services (EMS), the community-based public
5service whose presence is vital to children in need; and

6WHEREAS, The needs of children are different from the needs
7of adults in medical emergencies; and

8WHEREAS, EMSC promotes the high-level emergency care given by
9EMS providers with pediatric emergency skills; and

10WHEREAS, EMSC assists in training for the use of advanced
11technical equipment and services in preparation to save the life
12of a child; and

13WHEREAS, EMS providers unceasingly prepare to respond to
14children who benefit from the system and return them to an

1optimum level of health; and

2WHEREAS, EMSC works with emergency physicians, emergency
3nurses, social workers, psychologists, rescue personnel,
4emergency medical technicians, paramedics, prehospital nurses,
5air medical personnel, emergency medical responders, emergency
6vehicle operators, firefighters, police officers, educators,
7dispatchers, administrators and others to identify and address
8the issues surrounding the provision of optimal pediatric care;
9and

10WHEREAS, EMSC assists in the development of training,
11programs and guidelines for emergency care providers so that
12children with special health care needs receive timely,
13appropriate care; and

14WHEREAS, It is proper and timely to recognize to the value
15and accomplishments of such dedicated men and women by
16designating Emergency Medical Services for Children Day;
17therefore be it

18RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate May 21,
192014, as "Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Day"
20with the theme, "EMS: Dedicated for Life" and encourage the
21community to observe this day with appropriate programs,
22ceremonies and activities.
