A RESOLUTION
1Recognizing the week of May 11 through 17, 2014, as "National
2Police Week" and May 15, 2014, as "Police Officers' Memorial
3Day" in Pennsylvania.
4WHEREAS, Across the United States the week of May 11 through
517, 2014, will be recognized as "National Police Week"; and
6WHEREAS, The first National Police Officers' Memorial Day was
7held on May 15, 1982, following a proclamation signed by
8President John F. Kennedy on October 1, 1962, and has continued
9to be observed annually in memory of those police officers who
10made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty; therefore be it
11RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the memory
12of the hundreds of police officers who have given their lives in
13the line of duty in this Commonwealth; and be it further
14RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
1week of May 11 through 17, 2014, as "National Police Week" and
2May 15, 2014, as "Police Officers' Memorial Day" in
3Pennsylvania.
