A RESOLUTION

 

1Recognizing the month of March 2014 as "National Athletic
2Training Month" in Pennsylvania.

3WHEREAS, Quality health care is vital for individuals
4involved in physical activity; and

5WHEREAS, Licensed athletic trainers have a long history of
6providing quality health care for athletes and persons engaged
7in physical activity based on specific tasks, knowledge and
8skills acquired through nationally regulated educational
9processes; and

10WHEREAS, Athletic training involves prevention of injuries,
11recognition, evaluation and aggressive treatment,
12rehabilitation, health care administration, education, research
13and guidance; and

14WHEREAS, Athletic training was recognized by the American
15Medical Association in 1990 as an allied health care profession;

1and

2WHEREAS, The National Athletic Trainers' Association
3represents and supports the more than 30,000 members of the
4athletic training profession employed in professional sports,
5colleges and universities, high schools, clinics and hospitals,
6corporate and industrial settings and the military; and

7WHEREAS, Leading organizations have joined together to raise
8public awareness of athletic training and to emphasize the
9importance of quality health care for athletes and persons
10engaged in physical activity, with the aim of improving health
11care for athletes and physically active people and promoting
12licensed athletic trainers as allied health care professionals;
13therefore be it

14RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
15month of March 2014 as "National Athletic Training Month" in
16Pennsylvania.
