A RESOLUTION
1Designating March 26, 2014, as "Pike County 200th Anniversary
2Day" in Pennsylvania.
3WHEREAS, Pike County was organized on March 26, 1814; and
4WHEREAS, Pike County was formerly a part of Wayne County; and
5WHEREAS, Pike County was named after American Brigadier
6General and explorer Zebulon Montgomery Pike; and
7WHEREAS, Pike County boasts as balance of towns and
8woodlands, with the natural beauty of Dingmans Falls, just a
9short distance from the charming Victorian architecture of the
10county seat of Milford; and
11WHEREAS, Each year thousands of visitors journey to Pike
12County to enjoy some of the finest hunting and fishing
13opportunities in the northeast, to go canoeing on the Delaware
14River or boating on Lake Wallenpaupak or simply to enjoy a hike
15through the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area; and
1WHEREAS, Pike County has been one of the fastest growing
2counties in this Commonwealth; therefore be it
3RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate March
426, 2014, as "Pike County 200th Anniversary Day" in
5Pennsylvania.
