A RESOLUTION
1Congratulating the Chief Cornplanter Council of the Boy Scouts
2of America on the occasion of its 100th anniversary.
3WHEREAS, The Boy Scouts of America was founded by Chicago
4publisher William Boyce on February 8, 1910; and
5WHEREAS, Only three years later, in 1913, the Warren County
6Council of the Boy Scouts of America was established in the City
7of Warren; and
8WHEREAS, In 1954, the official name of the Warren County
9Council was changed to the Chief Cornplanter Council of the Boy
10Scouts of America to honor the famous Seneca Iroquois Indian;
11and
12WHEREAS, The Chief Cornplanter Council of the Boy Scouts of
13America, having existed for 100 years, is the oldest
14continuously existing council in the Boy Scouts of America; and
15WHEREAS, The Chief Cornplanter Council of the Boy Scouts of
1America has become an important member of the community of the
2City of Warren, having served countless generations of youth;
3therefore be it
4RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate the
5Chief Cornplanter Council of the Boy Scouts of America, which is
6headquartered in the City of Warren, on the occasion of its
7100th anniversary; and be it further
8RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
9the Chief Cornplanter Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
