A RESOLUTION

 

1Designating the week of October 21 through 25, 2013, as
2"National Business Women's Week" in Pennsylvania.

3WHEREAS, Working women constitute more than 72 million of
4this nation's work force and they strive to serve their
5communities, their states and their nation in professional,
6civic and cultural capacities; and

7WHEREAS, Women-owned businesses account for 40% of all United
8States businesses, generating $1.9 trillion in sales; and

9WHEREAS, In 1928, President Herbert Hoover designated the
10third week of October as "National Business Women's Week"; and

11WHEREAS, The major goals of Business and Professional
12Women/USA are to promote equality for all women and to help
13create better conditions for working women through the study of

1social, educational, economic and political issues; and

2WHEREAS, For more than 85 years, various women's business
3groups have been spotlighting the achievements and contributions
4of working women during "National Business Women's Week";
5therefore be it

6RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
7week of October 21 through 25, 2013, as "National Business
8Women's Week" in Pennsylvania.
