A RESOLUTION
1Designating the week of November 18, 2013, as "American
2Education Week" in Pennsylvania.
3WHEREAS, National attention must be focused on the integral
4role that education plays in preparing citizens of the United
5States for the future in an increasingly competitive and
6interdependent world; and
7WHEREAS, A well-educated work force is vital to the economic
8well-being of the United States and of this Commonwealth; and
9WHEREAS, A good education leads to more skilled and higher
10paying jobs; and
11WHEREAS, This Commonwealth has a strong and historic
12tradition of commitment to public education and has been blessed
13with the leadership of brilliant and innovative educators;
1therefore be it
2RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
3week of November 18, 2013, as "American Education Week" in
4Pennsylvania; and be it further
5RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge educators,
6parents and students throughout this Commonwealth to observe
7"American Education Week" in Pennsylvania and to use it to
8nurture the educational opportunities in this Commonwealth; and
9be it further
10RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge businesses
11in this Commonwealth to encourage employees who are parents to
12visit their children's schools and get more involved in efforts
13to promote and enhance learning.
