A RESOLUTION
1Designating the month of August 2013 as "Stevens Johnson
2Syndrome Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania.
3WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Stevens Johnson Syndrome
4(SJS) Foundation has remained true to its mission and goal of
5providing support, education and advocacy through the
6compilation and distribution of valuable information about SJS
7to the public and medical professionals regarding treatments and
8therapies; and
9WHEREAS, SJS and Toxic Epodermal Necrolysis Syndrome, another
10form of SJS, are severe allergic reactions to prescription and
11over-the-counter medications; and
12WHEREAS, Those afflicted with SJS experience severe
13inflammation of the mucus membranes and, if left untreated, SJS
14can result in blindness, other serious health problems and
15death; therefore be it
16RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate August
12013 as "Stevens Johnson Syndrome Awareness Month" in
2Pennsylvania.
