A RESOLUTION

1Directing the Department of Health to consider regulations in
2support of nanotechnology and other nontoxic means that
3control bacteria, mold, mildew, fungi, algae, viruses and
4volatile organic compounds (VOCs) causing noxious odors.

5WHEREAS, The Department of Health is a Commonwealth-wide
6agency whose mission is to promote healthy lifestyles, prevent
7injury and disease and to assure the safe delivery of quality
8healthcare for all Commonwealth citizens, partnering with county
9and local health departments and community organizations; and

11volatile organic compounds (VOCs) can cause various health-
12related issues; and

13WHEREAS, Nanotechnology is a diverse application involving
14the manipulation of matter on an atomic and molecular scale; and

15WHEREAS, Public facilities should be tested for bacteria,
16mold, mildew, fungi, algae, viruses and VOCs twice a year to be
17documented on a Bionomic Assessment Report listing the outcome
18of the tests; and

19WHEREAS, Regulations should be reviewed to allow and

1encourage the use of nanotechnology and other nontoxic means
2that are proven to be effective for killing microbes and are not
3harmful to people, places, animals and the environment; and

4WHEREAS, Services such as nanotechnology that are provided to
5public facilities should be delivered by certified technicians

12nanotechnology and other nontoxic means in order to control
13bacteria, mold, mildew, fungi, algae, viruses and volatile
14organic compounds (VOCs) causing noxious odors in order to
15preserve the health and safety of all Commonwealth residents.
