A RESOLUTION
1Recognizing and honoring◄ Chief Special Warfare Operator Brett D.
2Shadle, formerly of E◄lizabethville, Dauphin County, who died
3during a military training exercise on March 28, 2013, in
4Arizona at 31 years of age, and expressing the condolences of
5the House of Representatives.
6WHEREAS, The House of Representatives respectfully
7acknowledges that ◄Chief Shadle attained his long-held goals of
8following his brother into Navy service and becoming a SEAL and
9notes that he fully possessed the energies and discipline
10required for the rigors of that service; and
11WHEREAS, ◄Chief Shadle enlisted following his 2000 graduation
12from Upper Dauphin High School, where he had distinguished
1himself on the basketball and soccer teams; and
2WHEREAS,◄ Chief Shadle earned two Bronze Star Medals with
3Valor and several service ribbons during multiple deployments in
4Iraq and Afghanistan; and
5WHEREAS, Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek, Virginia
6Beach, conducted a ◄memorial service for Chief Shadle on April 4,
72013; and
8WHEREAS, Flags were lowered to half-staff in this
9Commonwealth, the State of Arizona, the Commonwealth of Virginia
10and the City of Virginia Beach to honor ◄fallen Chief Shadle; and
11WHEREAS, Chi◄ef Shadle was interred with full military honors
12at Arlington National Cemetery on May 3, 2013; and
13WHEREAS, The House of Representatives commends◄ Chief Shadle's
14defense of our freedoms as a highly decorated member of the ◄Navy
15SEALs; and
16WHEREAS, The House of Representatives extends deepest
17sympathies to ◄Chief Shadle's parents, his brother, his wife and
18his c◄hildren; therefore be it
19RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize and
20honor Chief Spec◄ial Warfare Operator (SEAL) Brett D. Shadle,
21formerly of Elizabethville, Dauphin County, who died during a
22military training exercise on March 28, 2013, in Arizona at 31
23years of age, and express its condolences; and be it further
24RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
25Chief◄ Shadle's family.
