A RESOLUTION

 

1Honoring the life of Fire Chief Rodney Paul Miller, who died on
2April 27, 2013.

3WHEREAS, Rodney Paul Miller, Fire Chief of Loganville Fire
4Company in Loganville, York County, died on April 27, 2013, in
5the line of duty; and

6WHEREAS, Mr. Miller began his service as a Junior Volunteer
7Firefighter at 16 years of age, rising through the ranks to
8become 1st Assistant Fire Chief, and ultimately Chief in 2001;
9and

10WHEREAS, Mr. Miller was born on February 6, 1968, in York,
11attended Dallastown Area School District and graduated from York
12County Area Vocational-Technical School, Class of 1986; and

13WHEREAS, Mr. Miller was a tool and die maker by trade and was

1a self-employed carpenter and mason who enjoyed hunting and
2mentoring young firefighters; and

3WHEREAS, Mr. Miller was a member of Salem United Church of
4Christ in Jacobus, and was an active member of the Loganville
5Fire Company, the Seven Valleys Community Fire Company and the
6Fire Chiefs Association; and

7WHEREAS, Mr. Miller is survived by his wife of 21 years,
8Michelle D. "Shelly" (Keener) Miller; his parents, Paul T. and
9Elaine M. (Thoman) Miller of Seven Valleys; his brother, Gary L.
10Miller and his wife Julie of Spring Grove; three nieces, Lindsay
11M. Miller, Madison M. Luring and Mariah E. Luring; and a nephew,
12Kyle A. Miller; and

13WHEREAS, A funeral service was held Friday, May 3, 2013, at
14Grace Fellowship Church in York, and Mr. Miller was laid to rest
15in St. Peter's Yellow Church Cemetery in Seven Valleys and
16fireman's rites were conducted by several fire departments; and

17WHEREAS, Rodney P. Miller served his Commonwealth and
18community with courage and distinction; therefore be it

19RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the life of
20Loganville Fire Company Fire Chief Rodney P. Miller, who died on
21April 27, 2013.
