A RESOLUTION

 

1Recognizing the 70th anniversary of the National Federation of
2Independent Business on May 20, 2013, and honoring the
3association for its contributions to small businesses
4throughout this Commonwealth.

5WHEREAS, The National Federation of Independent Business
6(NFIB), the leading small business association in the United
7States, celebrates 70 years as the voice of small business
8across the United States; and

9WHEREAS, NFIB is the voice for 15,000 small businesses in
10this Commonwealth; and

11WHEREAS, NFIB was founded on May 20, 1943, as the brainchild
12of C. Wilson Harder who believed that government should not
13stand in the way of small business owners, but instead champion
14their successes for the good of the nation and free enterprise;

2WHEREAS, The positions of NFIB exclusively originate from the
3democratic polling of its grassroots membership and reflect the
4actual interests of small business owners; and

5WHEREAS, As a result, the positions of NFIB lead to the
6growth of small businesses and job creation; and

7WHEREAS, NFIB has been honored by United States presidents,
8members of Congress, governors and other elected officials for
9bringing an understanding of the critical issues facing small
10business owners, such as taxation, over-regulation and other
11mandates that can choke the life out of small businesses, to
12policymakers; and

13WHEREAS, NFIB offers millions of dollars in scholarships
14through its Young Entrepreneurs Foundation; and

15WHEREAS, NFIB also offers low-cost business services,
16represents small business interests in the courts and gathers
17data on small business trends; and

18WHEREAS, For 70 years, NFIB has relentlessly worked to
19advocate that small businesses are the engines of job growth,
20the lifeblood of American entrepreneurship and essential to the
21creation of a better standard of living for all; therefore be it

22RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
2370th anniversary of the National Federation of Independent
24Business on May 20, 2013, and honor the association for its
25contributions to small businesses throughout this Commonwealth.
