INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, APRIL 24, 2013
A RESOLUTION
1Designating the month of May 2013 as "Law Month" in Pennsylvania
2and urging lawmakers, lawyers, judges and schools to
3participate.
4WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Bar Association will launch its
514th annual "Law Day" program on May 1, 2013; and
6WHEREAS, As part of the celebration, the Pennsylvania Bar
7Association and local bar associations across this Commonwealth
8will sponsor activities throughout the month of May; and
9WHEREAS, The theme for 2013 is "Realizing the Dream: Equality
10for All"; and
11WHEREAS, The celebration is coordinated by the Law-Related
12Education Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and
13funded by the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation; and
14WHEREAS, Schools, attorneys and judges will be encouraged to
15work together to arrange for classroom visits as part of the
16celebration; and
1WHEREAS, The primary purpose of the celebration is to teach
2children about their legal rights and responsibilities and to
3share with them the essence of being an American citizen; and
4WHEREAS, Students of all ages in kindergarten through college
5will have the opportunity to explore the ways in which they can
6have an impact on our world; therefore be it
7RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
8month of May 2013 as "Law Month" in Pennsylvania; and be it
9further
10RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge all
11lawmakers, attorneys, judges and schools to participate in this
12year's celebration.
