A RESOLUTION
1Recognizing the month of April 2013 as "National Welding Month"
2in Pennsylvania.
3WHEREAS, A universally accepted method of permanently joining
4all metals, welding has contributed to the development of
5cultures and societies around the world and was essential to
6American industrial development; and
7WHEREAS, Welding has important uses in modern industrial
8practice, including construction, shipbuilding, manufacturing,
9aerospace production and the development of international
10pipelines; and
11WHEREAS, Welding is a growing industry, with each segment and
12each welding process having its own growth patterns; and
13WHEREAS, Technological advances in cutting and welding have
14yielded improved accuracy and greater opportunities to partner
15with other industries; and
16WHEREAS, In February 2012, the Boy Scouts of America
1introduced a welding merit badge to help youths explore the
2fundamentals of welding and learn about the different career
3paths within the welding industry; and
4WHEREAS, "National Welding Month" highlights the productivity
5within the welding industry; and
6WHEREAS, "National Welding Month" promotes awareness of the
7science and technology of welding and the wide range of welding
8applications and welding-related jobs; and
9WHEREAS, "National Welding Month" pays tribute to the
10professional welders who have helped to build our nation;
11therefore be it
12RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
13month of April 2013 as "National Welding Month" in Pennsylvania.
