A RESOLUTION

 

1Honoring the life and public service of Mr. John H. Sanks, Jr.,
2long-serving broadcast technician for the House of
3Representatives.

4WHEREAS, Mr. John H. Sanks, Jr., was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma
5to the late John H., Sr., and Elizabeth E. Sanks; and

6WHEREAS, Mr. Sanks attended Harrisburg High School and
7graduated in 1976; and

8WHEREAS, Following high school, Mr. Sanks became interested
9in the field of electronics/broadcast engineering technology and
10enrolled in Electronic Institutes; and

11WHEREAS, Upon his graduation, Mr. Sanks entered the field of
12broadcast and sound engineering, working several years for the
13WPVI-TV Channel 6 ABC network; and

14WHEREAS, Seizing an opportunity to transfer his talents and
15skill set to the political arena, Mr. Sanks obtained employment

1as a broadcast technician for the Pennsylvania House of
2Representatives; and

3WHEREAS, Mr. Sanks dutifully fulfilled his role through his
4technical savvy and sheer dedication to his work; and

5WHEREAS, Mr. Sanks unwittingly provided an invaluable service
6to the citizenry of this Commonwealth through his efforts of
7bringing both attention and transparency to the legislative
8process, a process which governs virtually every function and
9aspect of the lives of the citizens of this Commonwealth; and

10WHEREAS, Mr. Sanks' high level of activity and productivity
11extended well beyond the confines of the State House, as
12evidenced by his many pastimes which included camping, hunting,
13fishing, boating, photography, football and grilling; and

14WHEREAS, As a testament to his altruistic spirit, for many
15years Mr. Sanks served as a camp counselor at Camp Shikellamy,
16where he played an integral role in constructively guiding lives
17of the youth of this Commonwealth by successfully preparing them
18for adulthood; and

19WHEREAS, Mr. Sanks' work, actions and deeds both directly and
20indirectly impacted the lives and hearts of innumerable
21Pennsylvanians in a positive manner; and

22WHEREAS, Mr. Sanks passed away on March 21, 2013; and

23WHEREAS, With Mr. Sanks' untimely passing, the Commonwealth
24lost a hardworking, dependable and selfless individual; and

25WHEREAS, With equal resolve and diligence, Mr. Sanks relished
26his role as broadcast technician, loving father, mentor,
27confidant and public servant until the day he transitioned to
28eternal rest; and

29WHEREAS, Mr. Sanks' legacy will be enduring and will serve as
30a rich source of encouragement and inspiration for all who knew

1him or have been positively affected by his actions; and

2WHEREAS, Mr. Sanks is survived by his two sons, John H., III,
3and Brian P.; his twin brother, Joseph L., Sr.; his two
4granddaughters, Ajahnae Nicole and Rhayne Marie; his two
5grandsons, Jasai and Sherman; and his adopted son, Jamar
6Bullett; therefore be it

7RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives and the
8Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus honor the life and public
9service of Mr. John H. Sanks, Jr., long-serving broadcast
10technician for the House of Representatives; and be it further

11RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to
12the family of Mr. John H. Sanks, Jr.
