INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, APRIL 8, 2013
A RESOLUTION
1Designating the month of April 2013 as "Month of the Military
2Child" in Pennsylvania.
3WHEREAS, In this Commonwealth, there are 32,000 children of
4military personnel who sacrifice during their father's or
5mother's military service; and
6WHEREAS, The families of military personnel endure tremendous
7challenges while their loved ones are serving their country; and
8WHEREAS, These families are a source of inspiration and pride
9for the American people; and
10WHEREAS, To help spread awareness of the challenges facing
11military children media outlets will write articles on the
12"Month of the Military Child"; and
13WHEREAS, The color purple symbolizes all of the branches of
14the military, combining Army green, Coast Guard blue, Air Force
1blue, Marine red and Navy blue; and
2WHEREAS, Schools, sports teams, youth organizations, the
3Chamber of Commerce, fraternal organizations and rotary groups
4are encouraged to wear purple to show their support for the
5children of these active military members; therefore be it
6RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate April
72013 as "Month of the Military Child" in Pennsylvania; and be it
8further
9RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage
10everyone across this Commonwealth to wear purple on April 15,
112013, in support of military children.
