A RESOLUTION

 

1In conjunction with National Agriculture Day, designating March
219, 2013, as "Pennsylvania Farm Bureau Day" and
3congratulating Pennsylvania Farm Bureau members for their
4contribution to this Commonwealth and to this Commonwealth's
5agricultural industry.

6WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, formerly the
7Pennsylvania Farmers' Association, was created November 24,
81950, to provide Pennsylvania farmers and rural citizens with a
9strong voice in government; and

10WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau represents 55,398 farm
11and rural families and has 54 county farm bureau organizations
12that are active in 65 counties in this Commonwealth; and

13WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau has played an integral

1role in development and implementation of legislation and
2governmental programs that have had lasting and positive effects
3upon the economic welfare of agriculture and agribusiness in
4this Commonwealth; and

5WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau has been and continues
6to be a strong voice for agriculture at the national, State and
7local levels; and

8WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and its affiliated
9charitable organization, The Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture
10Foundation, have been and continue to be effective at educating
11this Commonwealth's citizens about modern food and farming
12practices; therefore be it

13RESOLVED, That, on the same day we celebrate National
14Agriculture Day, the House of Representatives designate March
1519, 2013, as "Pennsylvania Farm Bureau Day"; and be it further

16RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives extend
17congratulations and appreciation to Pennsylvania Farm Bureau
18members for the contribution that they have provided to this
19Commonwealth and to the economic welfare of this Commonwealth's
20agricultural industry.
