A RESOLUTION

 

1Beseeching the Department of Defense and the President of the
2United States to expedite the recovery of the remains of the
3crew of the plane that went down and to continue their
4efforts in finding and recovering all remains of military
5personnel from all conflicts.

6WHEREAS, On November 27, 1945, a C-47 Dakota aircraft took
7off from Singapore on a transport flight to Butterworth
8Airfield; and

9WHEREAS, The crew of the aircraft was as follows:

10(1) Pilot: Flight Officer Judson B. Baskett from Texas.

11(2) Co-Pilot: 1st Lt. William H. Myers from
12Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.

13(3) Radio operator: Private First Class Donald E. Jones
14from Minnesota;

15and

16WHEREAS, The crew members were part of the 1305th Army Air

1Force Base Unit and the aircraft was assigned to the Air
2Transport Command; and

3WHEREAS, The last reported location of the aircraft was by
4radio. After being reported missing, American and British
5aircraft cooperated in searching for the missing aircraft. On
6the fifth day of searching, flares were sighted, but no results
7were reported; and

8WHEREAS, The aircraft was initially discovered during July
91966, in the jungle near Perak, Malaysia, and was found again in
101985 and 2009; and

11WHEREAS, The wreckage was reported to the Joint POW/MIA
12Accounting Command on October 13, 2009; therefore be it

13RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives beseech the
14Department of Defense and the President of the United States to
15expedite the recovery of the remains of the crew of the plane
16that went down and to continue their efforts in finding and
17recovering all remains of military personnel from all conflicts;
18and be it further

19RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be sent to the
20President, the Secretary of Defense, each member of Congress
21from Pennsylvania and to Lois K. Herr, 210 Lancaster Ave, PO Box
22519, Mt. Gretna, PA 17064-0519.
