AN ACT
1Designating a portion of Pennsylvania Route 144 in Centre County
2as the PFC Donald Ray Lucas Memorial Highway.
3The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4hereby enacts as follows:
5Section 1. PFC Donald Ray Lucas Memorial Highway.
6(a) Findings.--
7(1) Private First Class Donald Ray Lucas was born on
8September 6, 1948, and was a native of Centre Hall,
9Pennsylvania.
10(2) PFC Lucas began his sole tour of duty in Vietnam on
11November 15, 1968, as a member of the United States Marine
12Corps.
13(3) PFC Lucas was awarded the Purple Heart, the National
14Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam
15Campaign Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon.
1(4) On January 12, 1969, PFC Lucas made the ultimate
2sacrifice in selfless service to his nation during combat
3operations in Quang Nam Province.
4(b) Designation.--The section of Pennsylvania Route 144 in
5Centre County from Old Fort to Potters Mills is hereby
6designated the PFC Donald Ray Lucas Memorial Highway.
7(c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
8maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the highway to
9traffic in both directions on the highway.
10Section 2. Effective date.
11This act shall take effect immediately.
