AN ACT

 

1Designating the 700 to 800 block of U.S. Route 13, also known as
2the Chester Pike, in Prospect Park Borough, Delaware County,
3as the Officers Luke Arlington Conner and John Horace
4Callaghan Memorial Highway.

5The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6hereby enacts as follows:

7Section 1. Officers Luke Arlington Conner and John Horace
8Callaghan Memorial Highway.

9(a) Findings.--

10(1) Officer Luke Arlington Conner.

11(i) Officer Conner was a resident of Prospect Park
12and an officer of the Prospect Park Police Department for
13two years.

14(ii) On October 8, 1919, Officer Conner was on foot
15patrol on U.S. Route 13, also known as the Chester Pike,
16and was struck by a vehicle, dying six hours later in a

1local hospital.

2(iii) Officer Conner was survived by his wife and
3five children.

4(2) Officer John Horace Callaghan.

5(i) Officer Callaghan was a resident of Prospect
6Park and an officer of the Prospect Park Police
7Department for 15 years.

8(ii) On December 21, 1940, Officer Callaghan was
9directing traffic on U.S. 13, also known as the Chester
10Pike, near Stewart Avenue, when he was struck by a drunk
11driver.

12(iii) Officer Callaghan was survived by his wife and
13three children.

14(b) Designation.--The 700 to 800 block of U.S. Route 13,
15also known as the Chester Pike, in Prospect Park Borough,
16Delaware County, is designated as the Officers Luke Arlington
17Conner and John Horace Callaghan Memorial Highway.

18(c) Signs.–-The Department of Transportation shall erect and
19maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the highway to
20traffic in both directions on the highway.

21Section 2. Effective date.

22This act shall take effect immediately.
