1Designating a bridge on that portion of S.R. <-74 764 over 31st
2Street, City of Altoona, Blair County, as the Alvin E.
3Morrison Memorial Bridge.

4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:

6Section 1. Alvin E. Morrison Memorial Bridge.

7(a) Findings.--

8(1) S. Sgt. Alvin E. Morrison attended Greenwood School,
9Roosevelt Junior High School and Altoona High School.

10(2) S. Sgt. Morrison was a radio operator and ball
11turret gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress with the U.S. Air
12Force 560th squadron in World War II.

13(3) On one of the many Flying Fortress raids over
14France, German planes shot down S. Sgt.'s Morrison's B-17
15bomber, and the airplane's entire crew was forced to bail

1out, killing S. Sgt. Morrison along with several other crew
2members.

3(4) S. Sgt. Morrison was awarded the Air Medal, Purple
4Heart, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal and Honorable Service
5in World War II Lapel Button.

6(b) Designation.--The bridge located on S.R. <-74 764 in the
7City of Altoona, Blair County, over 31st Street is hereby
8designated the Alvin E. Morrison Memorial Bridge.

9(c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
10maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the bridge to
11traffic in both directions on the bridge.

12Section 2. Effective date.

13This act shall take effect in 60 days.
