7(a) Findings.--The General Assembly finds and declares as
8follows:

9(1) The dedication of the American people during World
10War II was crucial in supplying and aiding both American and
11Allied forces engaged in battle on two global theaters.

12(2) The American citizens at home sacrificed by
13rationing materials, recycling goods, purchasing War Bonds,
14and tirelessly working longer hours in factories, mines,
15mills, farms and many other industries to keep the war effort

1moving forward.

2(3) With many young men serving in the armed forces,
3American women were quick to step up and take jobs in
4industries that were considered reserved for men only, and
5subsequently made "Rosie the Riveter" a popular, and now
6classic, American icon.

7(4) Civilian support for the armed forces and defense of
8the nation spurred the establishment of numerous groups and
9organizations such as the Civil Air Patrol, Coast Guard
10Auxiliary and United Service Organizations (USO), which exist
11to this day.

12(5) Through their steadfast dedication and support,
13United States citizens at home were able to keep American and
14Allied forces supplied with materials and morale, which was
15instrumental in achieving victory and ending one of the
16deadliest wars in the history of human existence.
