1Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2Statutes, providing for emergency bridge repair.

3The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4hereby enacts as follows:

5Section 1. Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
6Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:

7§ 9103.1. Emergency bridge repair.

8(a) Emergency repair.--If a bridge is structurally deficient
9and requires a restrictive weight limit or a closure under 67
10Pa. Code § 212.117(a) (relating to weight, size and load
11restrictions), the department shall repair or replace the bridge
12so that it can be returned to unrestricted use in the shortest
13possible time frame.

14(b) Acceleration of projects.--All repairs and replacements
15made under this section shall be the top priority of the
16department over all other department projects not related to

1bridge safety.

2(c) Allocation of funds.--The department shall divert all
3funds not related to bridge safety immediately to bridge repairs
4and replacements made under this section for as long as there
5are any emergency repairs required under subsection (a).

6(d) Applicability.--This section shall apply to all
7structurally deficient bridges identified before, after and on
8the effective date of this section.

9Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
